Jared Remy faces nine charges for alleged jail attack

Posted: Updated:
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (WHDH) - Jail surveillance footage allegedly shows Jared Remy attack another inmate in Cambridge with a bar of soap and several other objects.

“I was watching TV and minding my own business when Remy threw hot coffee in my face. Remy started to attack me with a chair and punched me several times,” Jeremy Hodges, the alleged victim, told investigators.

Court paperwork shows that Hodges was arrested on possession of child porn charges; Remy says that is what provoked the attack.

“I did what I had to do, I got a child molester, I hit him with a chair and threw coffee on him,” Remy reportedly told investigators.

Remy was also the victim of a jail attack, but new information shows that he didn’t press charges because he didn’t want to be put in protective custody.

A court date has been set for later in April when Remy will face the nine new charges stemming from this incident.

He is currently being held while he awaits trial for allegedly murdering Jennifer Martel, his girlfriend and the mother of his daughter.
