CrossFit Florian hosts workout for fallen firefighters

NORWOOD, Mass. (WHDH) - Two Boston firefighters hosted a day-long intense workout to benefit their fallen brothers who died in the Back Bay fire.

The event at CrossFit Florian in Norwood on Sunday ran from 7:30 a.m. to around 6:00 p.m. and had people participating in 20-minute workouts that included 33 calories on the rowing machine, 15 deadlifts and four rope climbs.

Michael Kennedy, whose nickname was “dork,” was a fitness enthusiast and was a crossfit trainer. People used the intensity of the workout to let off some steam concerning his death.

“I struggle with it, but you get through it and, you know, hope that it helps in some way, shape or form,” said one participant.

Hundreds showed up at the Crossfit Florian. A minimum $25 donation was suggested at the door and it was encouraged to also donate to the Boston Firefighters Credit Union memorial fund for the two firefighers.
