It’s a chilly start to the day, but with wall to wall sunshine, we’ll quickly warm up. Although the westerly breeze is a bit active at times mid morning to early afternoon, it won’t be as gusty as yesterday’s and by late this afternoon, subsides even more. In fact, it may get light enough that along the coastline, a sea breeze kicks in near day’s end, dropping temps from the 50s to the 40s late.
All and all, it’s a beauty at Fenway Park for base ball with temperatures running in the lower to middle 50s. If your seat is in the sun, I’d consider using sunscreen. While it won’t feel hot out there, the sun angle this time of year is strong (as strong as early September), and a few hours in it still can give you a burn.
Monday, away from the coast, we’ll be in the lower 60s with 50s at the coast. Plenty of sunshine starts the day with increasing clouds arriving in the afternoon.
Those increasing clouds foreshadow a soaking rain for all of us overnight Monday as 1.0-1.5″ drops on the area. With rivers and streams running on the high side thanks to last weekend’s deluge, we’ll watch for minor flooding to reoccur. The saving grace with this system is the fact that it’s a quick hitter, in fact, most of the rain falls within 12 hours, meaning by Tuesday morning, the rain’s tapering off. With any breaks of sunshine arriving Tuesday afternoon, temperatures surge into the mid 60s.
Cool air rushes in for Wednesday as highs hold near 50, then we’re back to near or above 60 to end the week. All and all, I’d say we’re easing our way into Spring. By this time next week, I’m willing to bet that lawn starts showing more green and those flower beds continue to show signs of new growth.
