Man shot in Roxbury by Boston Police officer

BOSTON (WHDH) - A man was fatally shot in Roxbury Saturday afternoon after lunging at police officers with knives.

Police responded to a domestic dispute on Lenox St. at around 3:00 p.m. where a woman said her boyfriend was attacking her.

When officers attempted to place the suspect under arrest, he armed himself with multiple knives and lunged at the officers.

Boston Police said the officer had no choice but to fire. The officer attacked wasn’t seriously hurt. The suspect was transported to Boston Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The neighborhood is still reeling, putting residents on high alert.

“Makes me feel like you can't walk outside by yourself to go to a store without somebody shooting you,” said one resident.

The scene is still active while officials investigate.
