Throughout the winter, it seemed like opening day at Fenway would never get here as we featured blast after blast of cold air and of course a good dose of winter’s snow. Well, we made it, and yesterday marked a special day in our city on so many different levels.
While the weather wasn’t great for opening day, we do have better baseball weather ahead. Both tonight’s game at Fenway and tomorrow’s afternoon festivities feature dry air.
To get to that dry weather, we need shake off the low level moisture in place that we have early this morning. We will do that, for the most part, as occasional breaks of sunshine late this morning and this afternoon allow us to warm into the mid 50s. On caveat is the fact that there’s still a disturbance to our west that has to come through later today, so while we get the occasional breaks of sun, I still think at times we’ll have mostly cloudy skies and even one or two towns picking up a brief shower this afternoon. The breeze is active out of the west too, gusting 20-30mph. While this does mean better baseball weather overall, I’d still expect muddy fields out there thanks to last night’s rain and last weekend’s soaker. So from little league to high school, practices and games this weekend will have plenty of muddy cleats to go around.
Clear skies settle in tonight as temperatures fall into the mid 30s in Boston and in the mid 20s in the suburbs.
As high pressure builds in tomorrow, Sunday features fantastic weather with mostly sunny skies and highs near 60!
I don’t foresee any major storms in our forecast, however, Monday night features a burst of heavy rain that’ll end early Tuesday morning. After that, we’ll wait until Friday for the next shower chance. Notice the 7day forecast? Yes! Lot’s of temps near or above 60!
