Brockton woman allegedly caught shoplifting at gas station

BROCKTON, Mass. (WHDH) - A woman is allegedly caught in the act, stealing at a gas station in Brockton.

The store clerk said he noticed a customer stuffing her clothes with merchandise and that he asked her to dump it out on the counter, but she walked out.

Surveillance video shows the clerk following the woman outside where he said he grabbed her hood. She turned around to slap him and he hit back.

The woman then went back into the store and swept things off a shelf.

Police arrived and arrested the woman, 34-year-old Sarah Phillips, who faces charges of assault, shoplifting, and destruction of property.
