Red Sox fans have alternate route to Fenway

Posted: Updated:

With construction crews removing the ceiling from the Prudential Tunnel causing lane closures, officials encourage fans to take the T to Fenway to decrease any traffic problems.

7’s Nicole Oliverio knows how you can get to the ballpark faster for opening day to make sure you don't miss the festivities.

Public transportation was made more convenient. The Yawkey commuter rail station will drop you off 500 feet from Fenway Park.

When you get off the T it's lined with Red Sox history including all of the team's retired members. It's like a history lesson with a lot of information about the legendary players.

There are some fans outside hoping to get in for today's game. They've been waiting in line overnight. The earliest person got there around 4 or 5 p.m. Thursday evening. They want to make sure they can get tickets. Some arrived around 2 a.m. Friday morning. Many people have been doing this for more than 10 years, some almost 20.

“I've been doing this for 19 years. It's for the Boston Red Sox World Champions, 2013 World Champs,” one fan said.

“Love the Sox, love the game. It’s just tradition. It's my rite of passage. I get to go to more games this year because I camped out for opening day,” another fan said.

If you decide standing in line isn't for you, StubHub has some, though the cheapest seat is $145.
