Methuen High School student stabbed in parking lot

Posted: Updated:

Three teens have been arrested after they were allegedly involved in a stabbing in the school parking lot.

According to police the suspects got involved in a fight in the school parking lot just after dismissal at 2 p.m.

"There was a fight occurring between the victim and the other two subjects when the third suspect stepped in. Was this an attempt to send a message or was this just a miss? We won’t know until we get further into the investigation,” Methuen Police Chief Joseph Solomon said.

Two school officers were in the parking lot and witnessed the attack. They said they were familiar with the first suspect who turned himself in soon after the attack.

The victim was stabbed in the backside with a woodworking tool.

Students returning from sports events said they can’t believe this happened outside their school.

“I just heard that it was a current student who was stabbed and then ran off into the woods. I really wouldn’t think that it would happen here. It’s crazy that something like this would happen at your school. You never think that it would happen,” Methuen High School junior Joe Roi said.

The victim was treated and released from a local hospital.
