The latest issue of Rolling Stone featured an article on heroin use in Vermont.
Many people in the state are upset about an image used along with the article.
The image shows a maple sugar maker in the woods shooting up heroin. It's depicted on a traditional maple syrup can.
The picture is featured in an article about Vermont's opiate problem.
Vermont residents are worried about how the image is presented.
"I think it's pretty bad. I think it's sad, because the sugar makers, they don't do that. They have no time to do that. They're too busy gathering sap," Suzanne Larock, a sugar maker, said.
"That's really kind of insulting to Vermont actually. I take offense to it, being born and raised here," Kylee Keith, a longtime resident of Vermont, said.
Local officials and police said the image doesn't represent what they see in their communities.
