Goodbye March—–and good riddance to ya. A month where most of the month was bitterly cold (Boston’s 17th coldest and Worcester’s 3rd coldest) and the final few days we get pummeled by a spring Nor’easter. It has been rather dry the past 5-6 weeks across southern New England but this nor’easter took care of that with many cities & towns getting between 3-5″ of rain! Too much rain in a short amount of time and that sent many small streams & rivers into minor flood stage. Thankfully, not much additional rain today, only about .5″. There will be a burst of some sleet, snow this morning as the back edge of this storm creates enough cold air to change the rain to snow. A coating is expected this morning before teh wintry mix changes back to drizzle by afternoon.
This storm has been a slow mover which means the northeast winds haven’t changed direction. That will continue to lead to some pockets of minor coastal flooding at the time of the high tides today, tonight & tomorrow (around 1pm/1am). Wind will be fiesty today–especially along the coast–gusting between 30-40mph.
Tomorrow is April 1st. There will be no repeat of 1997, thankfully. Plan on morning clouds with developing sunshine through the day and seasonal temps…near 50. More dry weather is anticipated for Wednesday through Friday with Thursday the pick of the week, mainly sunny skies & temps near 60 (cooler coast). Red Sox home opener looks dry & cool, temps in the upper 40s throughout the game.
