New Bedford couple take 2-year-old with them to break-in

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WHDH) - A New Bedford couple had a small car companion when they broke into a home on Thursday.

Police said that Jeffrey Pin and Christie Hoffman had their 2-year-old daughter with them when they smashed their way into a house.

Investigators say a neighbor saw a minivan pull into the driveway and saw Hoffman get out. He then saw a man get out of the van and walk to the back of the home.

The neighbor says he heard banging and then saw the man pass items to the woman before they left.

Police caught up with the couple. They say the woman had jewelry hidden in her pants and they found a hammer in the car.

The couple is facing charges. Their daughter is in the custody of her grandmother.
