Spring is really the theme of the upcoming pattern. Warm and cold will alternate more than you care to think about. In fact, there are so many footnotes to the forecast in the coming days, I feel like giving you a map to plot out each day. If we're not watching out for a light mix, we're watching for downpours and possible flooding. If one day is dominated by a light, chilly sea breeze, the next has a mild, gusty southwest wind.

This is what spring is all about, right? Well, I wish the forecast was cut and dry (stressing the latter in the face of this deluge on Sat. night and Sunday), but it's far from it. So let's get our hands dirty with the "deets" (details) as the young folks call it.

First this light mix overnight. It's spotty, it's weak, it's brief and it's mostly outta here by the morning drive. Accumulations of sleet/snow/mix should be minor and negligible.

All part of the warmup process....for at least tomorrow. Saturday's probably the most deceiving day of the next few. Starts semi-bright and somewhat mild. Then the rain moves in and the temperatures crumble into the 40s. The keep heading south on Sunday and Monday, and as the storm exits, a parting gift of snowshowers is possible in the early part of Monday. Not too worked up on amounts since the storm should be out of gas by then, but it's POSSIBLE we might see some light accumulations west and northwest of the city early Monday morning.

More importantly, the slow movement of this storm system has me concerned for flooding rain. Between 2-4 inches of water may fall between Saturday night and Monday morning. Downpours will travel over the same places - mainly SE Mass. - throughout that time period. Mind the advisories, watches and warnings. The water may rise quickly on Sunday/Sunday night.
