Flags fly at half-staff to honor fallen heroes

BOSTON (WHDH) -

Two Boston firefighters are being called heroes this morning following a tragedy.

Firefighter Michael Kennedy and Lt. Ed Walsh were killed Wednesday night while battling a fire in Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood.

"These two heroes ran into the burning building, got people out," Mayor Walsh said.

Flags are flying at half-staff Thursday morning in honor of the two men killed in the line of duty.

The fire raged for hours as dozens of firefighters did everything they could to contain the flames.

Beacon Street remains closed as investigators are still determining the cause.
