Gun buyback program begins Monday

Posted: Updated:
BOSTON (WHDH) - Mayor Marty Walsh along with Boston police have brought back a gun buyback program.

The program called "Piece for Peace" begins Monday morning. Anyone who turns in a working firearm at a designated drop-off station will get a $200 Visa gift card.

"Removing guns from our neighborhoods is at the heart of violence prevention and that what this program will do. Every gun turned in is a potential saved life," Walsh said.

The goal is to curb gun violence in the city.

The program started Monday and runs until the $10,000 budget is used up.
