Luis Figueroa, 30, is facing a DWI and other charges after an attempt to flee police on Friday night.
SALEM, N.H. (WHDH) -
A New Hampshire man is under arrest after leading police on a small chase near an apartment complex in Salem Friday night.
Police found 30-year-old Luis Figueroa passed out in a parked Mercedes after responding to reports of an erratic driver on Rockingham Park Blvd.
When officers tried to wake him up, Figueroa tried to get away, driving into a dead-end street. Police said when he realized his mistake, he tried to reverse direction and continued to evade police, hitting several vehicles, including three police cruisers.
Figueroa is accused of also hitting two officers, who suffered minor injuries. They're expected to be okay.
One neighbor describes the incident as something like the "Grand Theft Auto" video game.
"I saw this guy flying through the street and four cops and a police officer running," she said.
Figueroa was cornered and was taken into custody after a brief struggle.
Officers can't confirm the suspect's initial motivations for trying to evade police, but they said he was in possession of controlled drugs.
Figueroa is charged with DWI, multiple counts of reckless conduct, resisting arrest and being in possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute. He's expected to face additional charges because of a parole violation.
He will be arraigned in a Salem court room on Monday.
