Drug charges in Mass. against 2 Vermont residents

Posted: Updated:
HOLYOKE, Mass. (AP) - Massachusetts state police say traffic violations in Holyoke have led to the arrest of a Vermont woman who was transporting about 1,400 packets of heroin back to her state.
Police on Saturday identified the driver as 41-year-old Nicole Farone of South Wallingford, Vt. She was charged with trafficking in heroin, marked lanes violation, conspiracy to violate the drug laws and knowingly being present where Heroin is being kept.
The passenger, 23-year-old Kasey Cota of Rutland, Vt., was issued a summons to appear in Northampton District Court for charges of drug possession and conspiracy.
It was not immediately clear if the suspects have legal representation. They were arrested Wednesday after a state police trooper stopped their car for traffic violations on Route 91 North.
