Driver saved from burning car on Lynnway

Posted: Updated:
LYNN, Mass. (WHDH) - One man was pulled out of a car on the Lynnway in Lynn Friday afternoon when it struck a light pole and flipped several times.

According to witnesses it sounded like an explosion.

“It hit the pole, flipped three times then landed right back on four wheels,” Giovanni Avila, the owner of an auto body across the street from the crash, said.

The occupant was trapped inside but thanks to some Good Samaritans he was able to escape without injury.

“He was standing over on a hill and when I asked police if someone was in the car they pointed at him and he just kind of waved at us, didn’t look like he had,” Lynn Fire Lt. Michael Noon said.

State Police say a tire blew on the car, causing the driver to lose control.
