WEYMOUTH, Mass. (WHDH) -
The New England Wildlife Center has a new patient in Weymouth: an orphaned baby fox.
The organization said on Friday that the 3-week-old fox was found in a den where his mother and siblings had already died. Animal Control brought the animal to the NEWC on Tuesday.
It's believed that the mother had been hit by a car and the pups were left without the mom for up to 72 hours.
NEWC is currently trying to find another fox to pair the quiet pup up with so that it can be raised properly. They're also running tests to make sure he is healthy. He's tested positive for ringworms, according to the center's Facebook page, but they say that it's an easy fix.
"He will of course be released back into the wild when he is old enough," a spokesperson with the NEWC said in an email.
