Three Calif. teens accused of trying to kidnap 17-year-old

Posted: Updated:
YUBA, Calif. (WHDH) - Three California teens have been charged for their alleged involvement in a kidnapping plot.

Investigators say the three teens created a fake profile on Facebook and friended the 17-year-old victim.

The suspects then allegedly set up a marijuana deal in a remote area and showed up in an SUV with weapons.

"They had instigated a plan to kidnap the 17-year old, to take him to another rural isolated area, to sodomize him, to cut him, to cut his Achilles tendons and we believe, ultimately, then kill him,” Yuba County District Attorney Patrick McGrath said.

Investigators say that the victim was able to call his aunt before being thrown into the trunk and she then called police.

The suspects are 16 and 17-year-olds and will be charged as adults.
