The Countdown Continues

Posted: Updated:
Today will mark 12 of 18 days this month as colder than normal. The winter that won't quit but also the winter that is (like all others) running out of time. Over the next four weeks we will pick up an additional hour & 20 minutes of daylight, helping to eat away at snowbanks and arctic airmasses.

Despite the fact that winter is waning it won't go without a fight as temps today--despite that strong March sunshine--only reach the mid to upper 30s this afternoon. It will be brighter than yesterday and feature much less wind, something I can handle. Yet another cold night ahead with overnight lows into the teens.

Wednesday sees our temps climb closer to our normal high of 46. Most cities & towns will reach the mid 40s (near 40 coast) under a partly sunny sky. These clouds are tied to our next system which is; a) fast moving & 2) a relatively warm system. Plan on some rain showers late Wednesday night-early Thursday morning. I do think there will be some wet snow in the Worcester hills overnight & perhaps a light accumulation by early Thursday morning in the higher terrain ofWorcesterr county.

In any event, the first day of spring will be warm with clearing skies. Afternoon temps reach the mid 50s as spring officially arrives 12:57pm. A dandy. Friday is also seasonably mild under a partly sunny sky. Look for afternoon temps from 45-50. Heading in the right direction.
