Second sexual assault reported in North End

Posted: Updated:
BOSTON (WHDH) -

Boston Police are investigating a second sexual assault that occurred Sunday night at 10:30 p.m. in the city’s North End neighborhood.

The victim told police she was entering her apartment near Salem Street and Hull Street when a male approached her from behind and indecently assaulted her. The man then fled the scene.

Some women in the area said the attacks have made them think twice about going out alone at night.

“I could see myself walking home by myself at 10:30. I have always said before midnight I am in pretty good shape so that's a little stressful,” one woman said.

"If I walk home and it's dark, I'm a little more nervous these days,” another woman said.

The victim described her attacker as a white male, approximately 6 feet tall and 200 lbs. with brown hair and a dark jacket. Police are checking surveillance cameras for a possible suspect.

The attack Sunday night comes a month after a woman was assaulted in a similar fashion, a few blocks away. In that case, police said the suspect snapped a picture of the victim with his cell phone. He was also captured on surveillance video.

Last week, 26-year-old Ross Currier was charged in connection with the incident. He pleaded not guilty and said he was with his fiancé the night of the attack.

Police are not linking the two assaults.

Despite the recent attacks, some women said they aren’t as concerned.

“It hasn't changed my habits, I don’t let it deter me from walking around. I still think it's a safe neighborhood,” Allison Levine said

“It's about time we really come together as a community and say, 'we're not going to stand for this anymore,'” another woman said.
