Woman and child hit by car in Roxbury

BOSTON (WHDH) -

The Boston Police Department is investigating a multi-car crash that sent four people to the hospital Monday.

Police said a woman and child were at the corner of Tremont and Prentiss Street in Roxbury when they were hit by the two cars. They were transported to a hospital along with two others for non-life threatening injuries.

Anthony Matringa was across the street at a dentist's office and immediately called 911.

"I heard a thud and I looked out and I heard one of the other patients say they saw the guy going left,” he said.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation but it is believed one vehicle was turning left when it was hit by the other vehicle then pushed into a streetlight and the pedestrians.

A police sergeant at the scene said the woman and child are lucky to be alive.

The woman and her child, as well as both drivers, are all expected to be okay.
