Near record cold out there this morning with Boston having a low temp of 16. The record low was 12 set back in 1896...that is an old dog (Worcester low temp was 9 with the record being 4 set back in 1948). Well, no record cold but still not even close to a normal low of 30. What nature takes away she usually gives back.
That give back happens tomorrow as temps will reach the 50s by afternoon. #Yay. In order to get that warmth in here we will go through some weather today---just clouds, now snow/rain. These clouds are tied to a warm front (the front edge of the warmer air). We don't quite cross over into the warm air today though as temps will reach close to 40 by afternoon...certainly better than yesterday but still below a normal high of 45. Temps tonight won't move much thanks to said warm front. Plan on evening & overnight temps in the 30s.
Tomorrow we will start the day with clouds & even some sprinkles until 10am then skies will clear out midday and set us up for a sunny afternoon with many cities & towns reaching the mid 50s throughout the afternoon. Enjoy.
Sadly, another chunk of cold air returns on Sunday. Temps for the day will be in the 20s/30s under a partly sunny sky. Plan on temps between 32-36 for the Southie parade. This chunk of arctic air may help us out as we will track a storm moving across the Ohio River valley over the weekend. This storm wants to come north into New England but the arctic air here will try & force the storm just south of us. As of now, I do think it will be a glancing blow on St. Patrick's Day with patchy light snow/flurries south of the MA Pike and even some accumulating snow along the South Coast/Cape Cod on Monday. Stay tuned this weekend on that one.
Have a great weekend!
