Littleton convenience store armed robbery caught on tape

LITTLETON, Mass. (WHDH) -

Two store clerks in Littleton were held up by three armed men recently. They said they could see their lives flash in front of them. The robbers were wielding knives and guns as they took money from the cash drawer.

“The gun was right against my forehead. The barrel was just right against me. It was cold metal so it was a real one. It was definitely real,” store clerk Jesse Cooper said.

“There was a knife. As soon as I saw the knife I felt the gun pointed right at the back of my head to get down,” store clerk David Smart said.

The robbery only lasted a few minutes and the employees said they barely had time to register what was happening.

“There was a knife. As soon as I saw the knife I felt the gun pointed right at the back of my head to get down,” Smart said.

Surveillance video shows the three hooded men entering the store. They rubbed their hands together, complaining of the cold. Then suddenly, two men with guns leapt over the counter where the two clerks are working. The third robber circled around the clerks with a large knife.

"I opened up the register, and just kept my hands up the whole time pretty much and let them do what they were going to do. They grabbed what they could grab and then they were out of here. It was fast,” Cooper said.

The robbers got away with cash, and a wallet. Police believe these could be the same men who have committed recent robberies in Fitchburg, Ashburnham and Leominster.

“One of the things they tend to do is vault over the counter, which you saw in the video here. They’ve done that in all of the other robberies also,” Littleton Deputy Police Chief Matthew King said.

Cooper and Smart said the robbers are in their late teens to mid-20s. Police and the clerks are hoping someone can recognize the men in the video.

“They've got to catch these guys as soon as possible because this is starting to get out of hand,” Cooper said.

“They're armed and you saw the speed and the efficiency in which they work. They work as a team. The clerks were both terrified because all of a sudden, you saw how blitzed and quick it was,” King said.

The employees were shaken up, but fortunately, not hurt.
