LAWRENCE, Mass. (WHDH) -
A Lawrence woman was home alone when she heard what sounded like thieves trying to break into her house.
The woman hid in her bedroom on the second floor where she called her husband who then called 911.
“My wife just called me very quietly and she thinks that someone was trying to break into the house,” the husband told a 911 operator.
David Rivera and Luis Contreras appeared in court Wednesday, accused of breaking and entering.
Prosecutors say the two men were about to enter the woman’s bedroom when she startled them and scared them off.
“She stated that she locked herself into the backroom and when it sounded like they were trying to go into her bedroom she started screaming 'I called the police they’re on their way,’” prosecuting attorney Anna Zalewski said.
The two men then took off, allegedly taking a Playstation, video games and DVDs with them.
Before the court proceedings friends of the two accused men said they were good guys.
According to a Lawrence police report officers were able to arrest the two men quickly because the descriptions of them were so specific.
