Suspects in Red Line beating step forward

SOUTH BOSTON (WHDH) -

Transit Police Superintendent Joseph O'Connor said the six suspects involved in the brutal attack at the Broadway Station have turned themselves in.

The suspects have been interviewed by police, but no charges have been made yet. MBTA police said without the video and the tips that followed these two women and four men may not have felt the pressure to turn themselves in.

MBTA police are deciding if they will face charges for this fight that sent one man to the hospital and also hurt several people who tried to come to that man's aid, including a 16-year-old girl who was knocked down and kicked in the head and stomach.

“There's a man like hitting me too, and like he's kicking me and stuff. And at that moment, I'm just like in a brawl with these two females that like we didn't really -- we didn't even do anything,” one of the victims said.

Nicole Giraldo was on her way home from a Celtics game. She said her sister and their boyfriends were also hurt. She thinks that when her boyfriend stepped in to help the man, the angry group thought they were all together. Nicole said at one point at least two people were attacking her at the same time.

The homeless man was rushed to the hospital where he was treated and the two women were treated at the scene.

O'Connor thanked the public for calling in the names of the suspects after the photos were released.
