At Least It's Not An Arctic Front

Posted: Updated:
Yes, we did have some snow this morning for a few hours and yes it did coat the ground but this batch of snow is not tied to an arctic front like soooo many of our other snow events have been. No, this front is actually a warm front sliding through New England. The snow showers & flurries will only spend part of the morning with us, exiting the region by 10am and then it's just a bunch of clouds. As for the mild temps they don't quite make it today but the numbers will be near normal---low 40s. Tomorrow, the warm air is here in full force as we'll start the day near 30 and by afternoon the temps will skyrocket into the 50s under a partly sunny sky. Not bad at all!

Onto Wednesday and this potential storm. Well, the potential is fairly high for unsettled weather as a storm forms along a southward moving cold front on Wednesday. For much of us here in southern New England, we'll start the storm on the warm side of said front which means rain not snow arriving by midday Wednesday. The rain continues through the evening commute and into late Wednesday night. As the storm departs it will drag enough cold air into teh region to change the rain to snow before ending by 7am Thursday. That changeover happens first across southern NH and never on Cape Cod. This means accumulating snow is likely along/north of the outer Rt. 2 corridor late Wednesday night-early Thursday morning. for many of us inside I-495, plan on less than 2" of snow with this storm---in fact, for metro Boston & south I don't think there will be much more than a slushy coating (if that!) More on the storm later today.
