Legionnaires' disease found in Dartmouth

DARTMOUTH, Mass. (WHDH) -

There has been a health scare at the Dartmouth Police Station.

It is closed due to Legionnaires' disease.

An officer tested positive for Legionnaires’ disease. The bacteria was also found in the water system. The Centers for Disease Control is now involved.

The police are now working out of a mobile unit near the station.

Legionnaires' disease is a severe form of pneumonia or lung infection. It can be contagious, but most people get legionnaires from inhaling the bacteria.
