Pembroke man arrested for 6th OUI offense

Posted: Updated:
HINGHAM, Mass. (WHDH) - A Pembroke man was arrested for his sixth OUI Friday night.

Police noticed a truck driven by John Sweezey, 55, with no front license plate. When police began pursuit, the truck began to accelerate at a high speed.

Officers were able to pull Sweezey over where they noticed his speech was slurred, his eyes were glassy and the front of his shirt was wet.

When asked to exit the vehicle, Sweezey said "I haven't drank in 20 years." He refused to perform field sobriety tests and a check of his license showed it was suspended.

He was placed under arrest. An investigation of the vehicle yielded multiple bottles of Smirnoff Ice.

Sweezey was charged with an OUI and operating with a suspended license, among other charges.

His bail was set at $1,000 cash bail. He will be arraigned in Hingham District Court on Monday.
