Exhibits dedicated to marathon bombing attacks to open

Posted: Updated:
BOSTON (WHDH) - One week before the anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombing two exhibits will be opening at Boston Public Library dedicated to the attack.

One of the exhibits will feature letters written from people around the world sent to the people of Boston and the mayor’s office.

It’s called “Dear Boston” and the letters offer insight into the outpouring of support immediately after the bombings.

"So many messages said ‘Dear Boston’ and they were from people outside of Boston saying ‘Dear Boston, we feel for you, we're praying for you, we support you.’ But it also has a second meaning to Bostonians; dear Boston, like our dear Boston," City of Boston Archivist Marta Crilly said.

The second exhibition will feature the items left at the temporary memorial in Copley Square, which included runners' bibs, clothing and running shoes.

The exhibits open April 7 and runs through May 11.
