BOSTON (WHDH) - A Boston firefighter was arrested Thursday night following what is being described as a violent struggle with hospital security at Boston Medical Center.

Eric Foreman, 52, faced a judge in Boston Municipal Court on Friday.

The Boston Fire Department confirmed that Foreman, who has been a firefighter for more than 25 years, was on duty when he was called to the hospital after his son was brought there Thursday. He was cleared by fire officials to leave.

According to a police report, when Foreman's son attempted to run from the ER, Foreman started pushing hospital security. One guard was choked so hard that he had to be hospitalized.

A second officer was allegedly punched in the stomach while a third suffered a hand injury and a computer in the ER was also damaged.

Foreman's court-appointed attorney said his client has no prior criminal record and was simply concerned about his son.

He was released on personal recognizance and is due back in court next month.

Boston Fire said that Foreman will still be on the job despite his arrest.
