Mother angry with school after daughter went missing

Fall River, Mass. (WHDH) -

First fear, now anger for this mother. Her daughter Alivia, and a friend went missing from their Fall River elementary school.

The school had no idea where they were.

"The school and myself we were searching lockers everywhere and didn't know if they were out of the school or off the property," Keri Lafleur, Alivia’s mother, said.

Alivia's 10-year-old sister was in the school and quickly learned what had happened too.

"I help kindergarten and I heard that she wasn't there for a long time and I told the teacher," she said.

That's when the school first found out. Then, according to Alivia's mother, there was no sign of Alivia or her friend inside the school.

Not too long after, a friend called Lafeur saying the young girls had gotten out somehow.

"She had found them walking a couple of blocks away from the school but this was already over an hour after they were missing from the school," Lafeur said.

Alivia didn't have a jacket on at the time, and neither did her friend.

Lafeur is still waiting for answers.

"That they would get to the bottom of it and reach out to me," she said.

Now this mother is hoping for changes before it happens again to someone else.

"I believe that before another parent has to go through the same thing all of the doors at the school have to have some sort of an alarm system. To me doors should be alarmed at all times no matter what," Lafeur said.
