JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (WHDH) -
A Florida law firm is only representing men in a move that they said will help in divorce and custody cases.
"A lot of courts have leaned toward the mother. And it is not supposed to be that way. Fathers want a fair shake,” said Attorney Stefani Nolan, who works for Kenny Leigh & Associates.
Some people say that it’s sexist, but the attorneys at the firm said that it’s critical because dads often have more difficulties getting equal time with their kids after a divorce.
"To them if they have every other weekend that is hurtful. Why should someone say you can only see your child every other weekend but mom gets to have him the rest of the time?” said Nolan.
According to the firm, men are also not treated fairly when it comes to money.
“Women can pay men alimony too. It doesn't just have to be one sided,” said Temi Zeitenberg, another attorney at the firm.
These two women who work for men only said that they don’t necessarily have to think like a man.
"I think it is comforting for a man to know that I as a woman can see or envision what their wife or the mother of their child may be thinking. And help them understand how we can steer their case in their favor but not go too far,” Zeitenberg said.
