Sudbury measles scare turns out to be false test result

Posted: Updated:
SUDBURY, Mass. (WHDH) - A measles scare in Sudbury was over before many even knew it had started.

It all stemmed from a packed swim meet, parents were warned their children

On Monday, parents got an email from the Sudbury School Superintendent, warning them of a possible measles exposure at a youth swim meet at the Atkinson Pool on Feb. 9.

Monday night those parents were told not to worry, no one is at risk.

The suspected measles case was first tested by a private lab, but the state public health department re-tested the man, and it came back negative.

The man who thought he had the measles works in Framingham, where there were two confirmed measles cases.

“I think it's good information to have, in case. But if your kids are vaccinated you're probably safe,” one mother said.
