Milford mom released after alleged drunk driving crash

Posted: Updated:
MILFORD, Mass. (WHDH) - A 21-year-old Milford woman appeared in court Monday, accused of a drunk-driving crash that sent another vehicle into a frozen quarry.

Police say Elizabeth Facey was driving with her three-year-old daughter in the car when she hit a van with a woman and three children in it.

The court entered a not guilty plea on Facey’s behalf, but the other driver’s mother is worried Facey isn’t taking it seriously.

“It angers me because it doesn’t seem like they think it’s a big deal. It is because three kids and an adult could have been killed, and her daughter could have been killed,” Linda George said.

George’s daughter, along with the three children  were inside the vehicle.

"It makes it even worse that she actually had her child with her. I think it’s kind of crazy that she put her own child in danger plus a car full of children,” Elena Nosiglia, one of the teens who was in the van, said after court.

Police say their response time was crucial because the van had fallen through the ice of a frozen quarry.

“The vehicle hit so hard it sent it sideways and the frozen snowbank acted as a ramp and sent it airborne,” Milford Police patrolman Robert Tusino said.

Facey was released in her own recognizance, her mother told 7News that Elizabeth just made a mistake.

“She's a good mom just made a really bad decision,” Laura Facey said.

Prosecutors say Elizabeth Facey’s blood alcohol level was over the legal limit and she failed field sobriety tests.
