Worcester family looking for hit and run driver

WORCESTER, Mass. (WHDH) - A Worcester mother is looking for answers on Sunday, as her daughter recovers in a hospital after a hit and run that left her severely injured.

Amanda O'Malley, 23, was on a stroll with her pug Juliana down Belmont St. outside her home on Friday night when a car hit her and kept going.

O'Malley is recovering at UMass Memorial Medical Center where her mother said she will be for the next two weeks.

She's had surgery on her broken leg and has a broken arm, a cracked vertebrae and broken bones in her face. She also suffered a serious concussion and has swelling in her brain.

"She's still very confused and has no recollection of the incident at all and still believes she's in school," said Patricia O'Malley, the victim's mother.

Patricia is shocked that something like this could have happened.

"I can't believe that somebody would hit her and take off," she said.

Amanda's family says the sidewalk was covered in ice and snow when this incident happened so they believe she walked into the road and that's when she was hit.

Investigators are looking to find the person who hit her. They believe the driver was in a gray or silver sedan and are hoping that someone can provide tips that can help police track them down. Amanda's mother is holding out hope that whoever did this will do the right thing.

"Please come forward. I'm not trying to make things worse, but i just want justice for my daughter," Patricia said.
