Pelham man turns himself in for attempted murder of sister

Posted: Updated:
PELHAM, N.H. (WHDH) - A man walked into the Pelham Police Department Friday and turned himself in for attempted murder.

Dennis Lozeau, 57, admitted to attacking his 65-year-old sister with a machete.

Police were not aware of the incident until Lozeau reported it. Officers were never called to the scene.

According to an investigation, Lozeau did try to attack his sister, but his 29-year-old niece defended her mother and was able to de-escalate the fight. She suffered minor bruising and didn't seek medical treatment.

Lozeau was placed under arrest in the lobby of the police department. He was charged with two counts of first degree assault. He will be appearing in front of a judge on Monday.
