Woman spreading random acts of kindness throughout Boston

BOSTON (WHDH) - A Wisconsin woman is spreading random acts of kindness throughout Boston in memory of her late husband.

Colleen Wogernese and some friends spent Saturday helping to pick up the parking tab for strangers.

“We are putting quarters on all of the parking meters on Beacon Street so when people go up to pay there will already be a quarter there for them to start their day,” Wogernese said.

Wogernese is doing this to honor her husband Chad, who battled cancer at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

She started her tribute by handing out gift bags to staff at the hospital.

She planned to perform 318 acts of kindness, each representing a day her husband tried to beat the disease. However, 318 grew to 1,000.

Wogernese said that the good deeds are helping her to heal in the wake of her husband’s death.

“It spiraled into something much bigger than we expected but it's awesome and we've met tons of people who are so thankful for what we are doing,” Wogernese said.

She started a non-profit called Superheroes Fighting Cancer, which supports parents that are fighting their own battle with cancer. To visit the website, click here.
