The car being taken out of the Malden home
MALDEN, Mass. (WHDH) -
A dump truck drove into a Malden home Thursday night, causing a second-floor deck to come crashing down.
A woman inside the home was injured after the impact sent a piece of furniture on top of her, but she is expected to be okay.
The woman’s daughter and two grandsons were also inside the house. The boys, aged six and seven, thought it was an earthquake.
The dump truck driver, 51-year-old Keith Bouthillette of Billerica was arrested for driving under the influence after being treated at the hospital.
Police said they found beer cans in his truck. Bouthillette admitted to partying but could not remember how the accident happened. He already has one drunk driving offense on his record.
“Don’t drink and drive. Because in two minutes, he could have took my precious boys away,” the mother in the house told 7News. Bouthillette entered a not guilty plea and was released on $500 bail.
The truck has been removed from the home. Officials are concerned that the building could collapse, so the family has not moved back in. Engineers need to be brought onto the scene to figure out the extent of the damage to the foundation.
