HINGHAM, Mass. (WHDH) -
A teenager was caught speeding in Hingham but was let off with a warning thanks to his good excuse.
The 18-year-old teen was going 14 miles over the speed limit to get to the lottery headquarters to cash in a winning scratch ticket worth $50,000.
The officer said the teen was shaking and very excited.
"The driver said 'do you want to see the ticket?' Officer said 'sure.' Showed it to him... he could see it was a winner. Driver told him that he won $50,000," said Sgt. Steven Dearth of the Hingham Police Department.
The officer let him off with a verbal warning. For that Rockland teen, it was a very lucky day.
