Police link Hernandez to 2012 South End murder

Posted: Updated:
UNDATED (WHDH) - Police have linked Aaron Hernandez to a double murder that occurred in the South End two years ago.

According to a recent affidavit, investigators have surveillance video of Hernandez near the scene of the shooting.

He has not been charged but the victims' family members in that case have filed wrongful death lawsuits against the former Patriots tight end. The Globe reports the families filed a pair of six million dollar lawsuits.

In a separate case Hernandez was accused of killing Odin Lloyd last June. Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to that murder charge. He is currently being held without bail at the Bristol County house of correction.

In the case about Hernandez's jailhouse fight Tuesday morning, TMZ reported Hernandez was not handcuffed but the other inmate was in cuffs at the time. Hernandez allegedly was reacting to insults from the other man.

The sheriff is investigating how Hernandez and the other inmate were able to get at one another. He hopes to complete the investigation by the end of the week and will then determine if charges should be filed.
