HOOKSETT, N.H. (WHDH) -
Police in Hooksett are investigating a body that was found behind the movie theater in town.
According to police they were notified of the body just after noon on Tuesday. They said it was in the snow at the bottom of an embankment behind the cinema.
Hooksett Police Chief Peter Batrlett did not have much to say when he was asked about the investigation.
"What I am going to say to you is right now we are investigating an untimely death with the State Police Major Crimes Unit and what we're looking at right now is that investigation. I'm not going to say anything further at this point until the investigation moves forward,” Bartlett said.
The body has been sent to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy, but they do not expect to have any new information soon.
Town Councilor Susan Orr said she lives near right behind the theater and she's worried about what happened.
"I'm concerned that they found a body one door down from my house. Yeah, I'm very concerned about that. My children walk down that path to go to the cinema. We have a great new chief he's been doing a great job. I trust what they're doing. And I trust that they're going to gather the evidence be able to catch whoever did this if somebody did it," Orr said.
It is unclear of the body is a man or a woman and police have not said whether there could be foul play involved in the death.
The police department is working with the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office and the State Police to conduct the investigation.
