Season 6 of 'The Voice' premieres Monday night

Posted: Updated:
UNDATED (NBC) - NBC’s hit show "The Voice" returns for season 6 on Monday night.

The competition among singers and the coaches is fierce.

Shakira and Usher are back in the coaches’ chairs, hoping to build a strong team and looking for their first voice win against former champs Adam Levine and Blake Shelton.

The rivalry stronger than ever with the return of Shakira and Usher to the chairs.

"I'd love to win this season,” said Usher.

But first, they'll have to beat veteran coaches Blake Shelton and Adam Levine.

"Now it's like they're with it and so it's totally level and it makes it harder for Blake and myself to survive,” said Adam Levine.

"I know that there's a target on my back, but I can take it,” said Blake Shelton.

Blake is a three-time winner.

While Adam scored his second win last season with Jamaican Tess Anne Chin.

This season the talent is again top notch. All four coaches turned their chairs 11 times during the blind auditions, setting up some heated battles between them.

"She plays that woman card. Oh my gosh she plays it every chance she gets,” said Shelton.

"I do play the woman card but it's completely sincere because it is the actual truth. I am a woman,” said Shakira.

From returning contestants looking for a shot at redemption to a duo hoping to make their mark, just as the Swon brothers did in season four.

This season's artists will get a life-changing opportunity to perform on a national stage. "The Voice" has also been life-changing for the coaches.

"To kind of pay it forward and help someone who is struggling and hasn't made it yet,” Levine said.

And giving contestants a shot at living a dream and finding their voice with help from their coaches and America.

Catch the special 2-hour season premiere of "The Voice" Monday night at 8ET on 7NBC.
