You don't see this every day at the mall, a sink hole caused by a water main break.
It almost swallowed up a silver car and it caused people like Anthony Mastracci to suddenly change their plans.
"I came here to get my brakes fixed at Sears Auto Center. Unfortunately they told me I had to come and pick my car up because they were closing because of the sinkhole," Mastracci said.
A spokesperson for the mall said the town of Burlington will investigate the cause of the water main break.
They had to shut down the mall at 5 p.m., 4 hours early. Some shoppers took a look at the unfortunate Toyota Camry and shrugged their shoulders and said they’ll just go somewhere else to do their shopping.
The Toyota was the only vehicle damaged by the sinkhole. It was eventually towed and taken away. No one was injured.
Construction crews worked overnight to repair the water main. There were still orange cones around the sinkhole on Friday morning because the pavement has to be resurfaced but the crater has been filled.
7’s Jonathon Hall reported Burlington mall is expected to reopen at 10 a.m. Friday.
