NH teacher arrested for inappropriate behavior

Posted: Updated:
SOMERSWORTH, N.H. (WHDH) - A high school teacher is off the job after he allegedly hugged and kissed one of his students.

According to police Paul Blanc, a math teacher at Somersworth High School in New Hampshire, kissed the 15-year-old student on the neck, on the hand and hugged her.

Blanc is charged with three counts of simple assault stemming from the incident on January. 27.

The student immediately went to her guidance counselor and a short time later Blanc resigned.

“It’s supposed to be a safe spot for the kids. We’re doing everything we can along with the school district to ensure that happens,” Somersworth Police Capt. David Kretschmar said.

Parents said they feel bad for everyone involved, but they're glad the students are the district’s number one priority.

“There’s two sides to every story and I hope to my heart that it’s not true. I just want the police and the [School Administrative Unit] to make sure it gets taken care of but I really feel bad for both sides,” one mother said.

Blanc was released on $2,500 bail and will be back in court March 6.
