Lowell man said elderly woman pulled gun on him

LOWELL, Mass. (WHDH) - A Lowell man allegedly had a pistol pulled on him by a grandmother, who ran him off her property after telling him to stop shoveling her driveway.

Michael Conroy said the 79-year-old woman and her 81-year-old husband originally gave him the go ahead to shovel their driveway, but changed their mind.

"I was just trying to do, you know, trying to be nice and shovel for people and I ended up getting a gun pulled on me," Conroy said.

According to the police report, the woman said Conroy demanded money and kept banging on the door.

The elderly woman said that she was "fearing for her family's safety," so she "grabbed her firearm, brought her husband inside and told Conroy to get off her property.

The couple said at no time did the woman point her firearm at Conroy.

Some in the neighborhood are impressed.

"She doesn't know what's going on. Some strange guy's demanding money, she's got to do what she's got to do," said Bobby Bergeron, a neighbor.

Police said the woman is not facing charges, as the gun was fully licensed.
