Police follow footprints in snow to catch Fairhaven suspects

FAIRHAVEN, Mass. (WHDH) - Police were able to catch two suspects in a breaking and entering incident by following their footprints in the snow.

Officials responded to the Friendly Farm on Sconticut Neck Road in Fairhaven on Feb. 2, where they found the front glass door completely shattered.

Officers found footprints in the snow leading away from the store. After following the trail, they found two 19-year-old males that matched the description of the two people captured on surveillance.

The two were wearing sneakers that matched the footprints and were wet and cold.

Allegedly, the suspects used a concrete block to smash the glass of the door and steal champagne and cigarettes.

Police arrested Jared Spangler and Tyler Smith. They have both been charged with vandalism and breaking and entering to commit a felony and larceny.
