Police looking for man who punched people on Mass. Ave.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (WHDH) - Police in Cambridge are on the lookout for a man they say randomly punched three people on Mass. Ave Saturday afternoon.

Anthony Goodh saw the attack happen and said that the suspect landed a number of punches on the street.

One pair was walking out of a furniture store when a guy approached them from behind and punched them in the head.

Goodh turned surveillance video that showed the incident over to the police.

"This is something that doesn’t happen here at all. Very surprised that randomly hitting people from behind," Goodh said.

The two other incidents occurred in the same area and police believe they are all related.

After another one of the incidents, a chef at the Cellar restaurant tried to step in and help but nearly got punched himself.

The attack is similar to a number of viral videos that have surfaced recently, where the attacker lands a knockout blow on a random victim, although police believe these are isolated incidents.

Officials said they think the suspect has mental health or substance abuse issues.

The suspect is described as a six-foot tall black male in his twenties.

If anybody has any information, they are asked to contact Cambridge police.
