Hyannis man attacked with snow shovel

HYANNIS, Mass. (WHDH) - A Hyannis man has been arrested after he attacked a local business owner with a snow shovel.

David Wood was using his snow blower to clear away some of the snow from the latest storm and apparently wasn’t depositing it correctly, getting it on his neighbor’s property,

"I got some in this bank, I got some on the street, anyway, I got some on his car,” Wood said.

William Caouette then grabbed a shovel and approached Wood.

"I asked him what's up and he says it looks like you have a lot of work to do I'm going to help,” Wood said.

Caouette took a swing with the shovel, missing the first time but continuing to swing at Wood.

"He got me a couple smaller hits so I grabbed the shovel and took it away from him,” Wood said.

Eventually a couple of kids came to help and police were called.

Caouette was arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon.
