Cape to get hit hardest in weekend storm

Posted: Updated:
The elements are intensifying on the Cape as a Saturday storm picks up speed.

According to emergency officials, more than 1,400 are without power in Sandwich and more reports are coming in from across the Cape. One of the places affected is the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, which lost power for about an hour and had to run on a generator.

A blizzard warning is in effect for the Cape and some surrounding South Shore counties.

Officials have met with emergency management and teams are ready for the snow that will stick to power lines and tree limbs.

The wind has been getting stronger in the evening, although not quite up to the 50 miles per hour gusts expected.

There is less than a quarter of a mile visibility.
